The Road Runners once again gathered for our annual Rally. Heading again to the familiar land around the Black Hills. We usually meet up with the Valley City chapter in Redfield, SD. This year though they showed up early and surprised us at one of the Twin Cities chapter overnight rally points a night early. Hugs and laughs late into the night. Good to be back together with our Road Runner Brothers and Sisters. We actually do have three sets siblings. Me and my bro Rob, Kimmy and Karen, and Benny and Lisa. The six of us allow the others the priveledge to join us. We are also very grateful for them!!
Had decent weather for the most part. Parted ways one day and the more experienced riders got caught in a downpour in what felt like Biblical proportions. I was lead Bike on this excursion and every turn or stop I made to try and avoid rain, seemed to keep us under the only storm cloud. Our other group was not far from us as the crow flies and stayed dry. Important thing everyone escaped unscathed.
Did a fair amount of riding for 5 days up in the Hills. Lodging was awesome with great views out towards Wyoming. Our resident Chef Cookie and faithful sidekick Benny managed a lot of our meals. Girls alternating in and assisting as directed. Thank you all as I don’t do much.
Week once again went by fast and we headed back home. Make it to Pierre SD for one last night together, depart in the morning and head for Terry’s Bar in Redmond, SD where we regrettably say our goodbyes. Terry’s Bar was the first place all original members got together in the same place all at once. Some members meeting for the first time. It was Magic. So much so it gave inspiration to two of our beloved members to invite all of us to be part of their Wedding the following year. Details to come with 2010 Rally report.
Back to Terry’s Bar. We stop here and have Lunch going and coming each Hills visit. This year on way out and with two prospects along, we stop for our Lunch. Get a table for sixteen and Terry’s son Dean who now runs the establishment comes to take drink orders. Beer here, Jack Coke there, a Wine Cooler there and so on. Gets to a certain member of our group and before they can answer Dean says “and Tequila for you right”.
Until next Rally “Ride on Road Runners”.
